Rare and unusual recordings, with a special emphasis on (1) the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and (2) performances by great artists of the 19th and early 20th centuries.Towe on Thursday is a weekly classical music radio broadcast produced and presented by Teri Noel Towe, a member of the Princeton University Class of 1970 who began broadcasting at WPRB-Princeton in January, 1968. Towe is an avid and committed virtuoso gramophonist who draws almost exclusively from the more than 15,000 78s, LPs, audiotapes, and CDs in his own collection when preparing the playlists for his weekly broadcasts. To a generation of New York classical music radio aficionados, Towe is "The Laughing Cavalier", the "nom de airwaves" that he used for 12 years on WBAI-FM and WKCR-FM.
